Glossary of craps terms

Ace Deuce: A wager on the next roll being a three (2 + 1 on the dice).

Aces: A bet that the next roll of dice will be 1 + 1.

Action: Active bets.

Against the Dice: When a player bets on Don’t Pass and Don’t Come.

Any Craps: A bet on the next dice roll being 2, 3 or 12.

Any Seven: A bet that the next roll is 7.

Any Twelve: Midnight; A bet on 12.

Apron: The outer border of the craps table.

Back Line: Another term for Don’t Pass Line.

Bar 12: When the result of a push on the Don’t Pass and Don’t Come bets is a 12.

Behind the Line: Odds on the Pass/Come/Don’t Pass/Don’t Come bets.

Big 8: A bet whereby an 8 is rolled out before a 7.

Big 6: A bet whereby a 6 is rolled out before a 7.

Big Red: A betting on any 7.

Bones: Dice.

Boxcars: A place bet on 2 sixes being rolled out next.

Box Numbers: A place bet on 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10.

Buffalo: A 5-unit wager on each hard way number and any seven.

Buy Bet: Another term for Place Bet.

C&E: A two-part 2, 3, or 12, while another bet is placed on 11.

Centre Bets: Bets placed in the centre of the table.

Come Bet: A Pass-line bet following a Come Out roll.

Come Out Roll: The first dice roll of the game.

Corner Red: The table corner section with 6 and 8 in red.

Crap Out: When the shooter throws a 2, 3 or 12 and the round comes to an end. The shooter changes.

Craps: A 2, 3 or 12 on the Come Out roll.

Craps Numbers: 2, 3 and 12.

Don’t Come Bet: A bet that is made after the Come Out roll.

Don’t Pass Bet: A bet on 2, 3 or 12 and which loses if it’s a 7 or 11.

Double Odds: An odds bet on Pass, Don’t Pass, Come, or Don’t Come at twice as much as the bet amount.

Easy Way: A number combinations that has two ways to roll.

Even Money: A win or a loss of a similar amount placed on a bet.

Eyeballs: Number 2.

Field Bet: A bet on 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 or 12.

Front Line Bet: A Pass Line Bet.

Garden: A Field Bet.

Hard Way: 4, 6 8, or 10 rolled out in pairs.

Hi-Lo: A bet on 12 or 2.

Hop Bet: A bet on any combination of the dice.

Horn Bet: A single bet on any of the following numbers: 2, 3, 11 or 12.

Inside Bet: A bet on 5, 6, 8 and 9.

Inside Numbers: Numbers 5, 6, 8 and 9.

Insurance Bet: Two or more bets that cover each other if one loses.

Lay Odds: An extra bet on Don’t Come and Don’t Pass.

Line Bet:  Pass Line or Don’t Pass Line bets.

Midnight: A bet on 12; Any Twelve.

Natural: A 7 or 11 on the Come Out roll.

Odds Bet: An additional bet behind the Pass/Come/Don’t Pass/Don’t Come.

One Roll Bet: A bet on the next roll of the dice.

Outside Numbers: Numbers 4, 5, 9 and 10.

Parlay: The altering of the bet amount by adding winnings to the initial bet.

Pass Line Bet: A bet on the Come Out roll being 7 or 11.

Place Bet: A bet that 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 are rolled out before 7.

Place Numbers: Numbers 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10.

Press a Bet: The adjustment of a bet so it’s double the amount.

Seven Out: When 7 is rolled out prior to a point number.

Shooter: The player who throws the dice.

Snake Eyes:  2.

Take Odds: A spare bet on the Pass and Come bets with true odds.

Take Me Down: When a player requests their bet to be returned.

Two-Way: A bet that is split between the player and the dealer.

Working Bet: An active bet.
