Betsafe Turn to Boxer Tony Bellow for “Passion Overcomes the Odds”

11.05.2017 • by Danny H

Fresh from his recent all-British victory over bitter rival David Haye, Liverpudlian Tony Bellew has wasted no time by partnering with Betsafe. In the 60-second UK advert entitled “Passion Overcomes the Odds” which you can see above, the 3-weight fighter helps to highlight the ideology that pure desire and grit triumphs statistics and on-paper favourites. His underdog, TKO win over Haye is living proof of just that.

Betsafe and Bellew Sign Year-Long Partnership

Alongside the above advert, Betsafe announced that they had come to an agreement with Bellew for a 12-month deal which will see the boxer sport training and fight attire branded with the casino’s logo and trademarks.

Furthermore, we can expect more Tony Bellew appearances in Betsafe content moving forward, as it was announced that he would be featuring in a number of brand activations during this stint. Betsafe are really making a push to appeal to the UK market, having signed up a number of famous sportsmen and teams already.

Bellew Joins a Long List of Betsafe Ambassadors

Perhaps the most famous Betsafe association is with Premier League football club Manchester City. Announced at the beginning of the 2016/17 season in August, the online betting platform has been bringing exclusive deals and offers to the blue half of Manchester ever since – such as their recent #AskTheManager Twitter campaign which grants one lucky fan the chance to meet manager Pep Guardiola.

Other big names include Cage Warriors – one of the leading mixed martial arts companies in Europe – alongside more sportsmen such as Harry Redknapp and Paul Dickov. We think these recent moves are just the beginning for Betsafe’s continued expansion into the UK and worldwide markets.

What Other Casinos Have Had Partnerships with the Famous?

Plenty. Online gambling websites understand that sportsmen, actors and other well-known people are, perhaps, the most striking and memorable image that they can associate with – and this has been utilised to full effect over the years.

Let’s start with PokerStars who setup multiple poker “duels” between Cristiano Ronaldo and other famous people in August 2016. Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul was one of his foes, as was 2015 Miss World Mireia Lalaguna. Watch the footballer vs actor face-off below.

However, it isn’t always sports stars that casinos turn to in a bit to promote their brand, with Hollywood actors also providing a huge push. While there have been many examples over the years, there’s probably not been one as obvious as BGO and Verne Troyer – best known for playing Mini-Me in the Austin Powers series.

Troyer and BGO’s relationship is rather different, though, as he’s been involved in their marketing since 2014. Now referred to as The Boss, BGO use Troyer as a symbol of invincibility, often boasting about how players fall at his feet. Check out the December 2016 advertisement for an example.

To conclude, we look at LeoVegas’ venture with UK comedian Johnny Vegas – the Double Vegas Brand Ambassador gag. Alongside the casino’s infamous lion mascot, Vegas and his newfound companion get themselves into a series of jams, while also proudly stating how LeoVegas have more casino games than anyone else.
